Doug graduated from Highlands High School in 1982 and then went on to earn a degree in Music Merchandising from Eastern Kentucky University.
Prior to college, he performed with a variety of ensembles including the Cincinnati Youth Orchestra and marched for 8 years in drum and bugle corps, including with the Golden Knights (Kentucky 1974-1979), and Suncoast Sound (Florida 1980-1982).
In 1986, Doug was selected to be a member of the Kentucky All-Collegiate Band.
After college, Doug's career path led him to various roles in the music industry. In 1987, he became the percussion products manager for Jupiter Band Instruments/Mapex Percussion.
The following year, he was the Marketing Manager for Stingray Percussion in Riviera Beach, Florida.
In 1999, Doug transitioned to a career in real estate and is currently an independent real estate broker.
Throughout the years, Doug has remained active in the music community. He has taught and arranged for award-winning percussion programs in Northern Kentucky.
Doug has also played drums for the Tom Schneider Jazz Trio and currently performs as the drummer and vibraphonist for the Christian jazz trio DMJ Jazz, in addition to his pop solo act as The VibeKat.
